The Butterfly Roof covers wedding venues from Palm Springs east through the Coachella Valley and north into the Morongo Basin. It is the fifth title in a small family of regional directories, after Palm Beach, Santa Barbara, Newport and the Texas Hill Country. Each is written from the ground up for its own region.
We read what the venue publishes, then what the city publishes, then the county code, and we record where every figure came from. When a property's own pages give two different capacities, both appear. When a price exists only on a marketplace profile, the entry labels it venue-supplied. Where a permit or a trading status could not be confirmed, the entry says so in its own line.
Nothing here is paid placement. There are no sponsored listings and no affiliate arrangements with venues, and no property saw its entry before it went up. The criteria for inclusion sit on the listing page.
Dear reader,
The name comes from a roofline. A butterfly roof is two planes pitching down toward a valley in the middle, and the form is the one most associated with William Krisel's Palm Springs tracts, at Twin Palms, Vista Las Palmas, Racquet Club Estates and Canyon View Estates. Deep overhangs cut the summer sun off the glass, and the low center takes what little rain arrives. In 1935 John Porter Clark and Albert Frey planted a ten-foot pole in the sand and measured the angle of the sun for a full year.
That is the standard this site tries to hold. The twenty-six-contract cap and the ban on outdoor amplification are both live constraints on a wedding date, and both are argued over locally. An August 2025 opinion column in the Coachella Valley Independent held that folding event permits into the same cap from January 2026 would severely limit estate events and cost the city millions. Commenters answered that residential streets should not carry commercial-scale activity at any cap.
So you will find municipal code sections in the middle of a paragraph about a rose garden. A house that cannot lawfully hold your reception is worth knowing about in August, while the date can still move. Everything on this site was checked on 25 August 2026, and everything on it will drift.
