Indian Wells Golf Resort

Hiring a planner is not optional

This resort requires that you hire a professional full-service wedding planner. Those are its own words, and it is an unbudgeted four-figure line before anything else is chosen. The only brochure it puts online is a file called Wedding-Brochure-New-No-pricing-for-Website.pdf.

The planner clause, and what else is compulsory

The brochure states that the client hires a professional full-service wedding planner. Full-service or day-of coordination both satisfy it, but neither is free, and no listing anywhere flags the requirement. Other obligations follow the same pattern of being clear but costly. A chef attendant is $300 and is required for action stations, carved meats and sundae stations at one per fifty guests. Extra hours beyond the standard five-hour reception cost $600 each. Moving an outdoor event indoors after setup has begun triggers a $500 location change fee, and setup starts at 8am on the day, which is when the weather call really happens. Live flame, oil-based fog and sparklers are all barred; flameless candles and water-based fog are approved.

Rentals priced, food withheld

Three spaces carry printed rentals: the Pavilion at $2,500, the East Lawn at $2,500 across 25,000 square feet, and the West Lawn at $5,500 across 6,500. The smallest of the three lawns costs more than double the largest, and the brochure does not explain why. The fee absorbs tables, chairs, china, flatware, stemware, linens with overlays and napkins, full-service catering, a twenty-person dressing suite, an hour of ceremony rehearsal and a tasting for four after signing, plus complimentary valet. What it never absorbs is a number for the food. Menu structure is printed in full, entree surcharges of $3 to $5 are printed, and every base price is stripped out. Bar tiers are named across four collections and priced at none of them.

The two figures it does print

This resort prints two figures almost nobody else here does: service at 24 percent, and California sales tax at 7.75 percent. The state rate table for the first quarter of 2026 puts Indian Wells at 7.750 percent, matching it. That combination is rarer than it sounds. What the brochure never does is characterise the 24 percent, which it calls a service charge and nothing else. A directory renders the same figure as service charge or gratuity, which is aggregator wording rather than anything the venue said. State law treats a compulsory charge of this kind as revenue rather than a tip unless the venue declares otherwise, so ask on paper where the money lands and what is expected on top.

Sound, guarantees and the ceiling nobody quotes

Amplified music inside or out may not exceed 85 decibels, and the Pavilion's sliding doors close at 10pm. Both are contract limits rather than the city standard, and the city's noise chapter measures 55 dBA at a receiving residential property before 10pm and 50 after, with no resort carve-out published. A directory claims weddings run to midnight; nothing first-party supports it. The guaranteed headcount is due fourteen business days out, the kitchen prepares three percent over and the room is set ten percent over, and charging follows the guarantee or the actual attendance, whichever is larger. Two directories cap this venue at 300 guests. The resort's own pages put the Pavilion at 400 seated and 700 standing, and a 2017 release puts the East Lawn at 700 dining or a thousand-plus standing.

The verdict

Where the fit is

Strong for a 150 to 400 guest wedding that wants glass on three sides and mountains behind it, and for anyone who values knowing the service charge and tax rate up front, which almost nobody here publishes. Weak for a couple building a budget without contact, because food and bar carry no published price at all. Guests sleep somewhere else: this is a municipal golf operation with no bedrooms.
