Riviera Palm Springs

Closed until 2027

This resort is shut. Work began at the start of June 2026, runs seven months, and an early 2027 reopening is announced, yet the property's website still carries a wedding enquiry form and posts no closure notice at all. Everything below is future tense.

The closure, and the paper trail behind it

Visit Greater Palm Springs announced a temporary shutdown running June through December 2026 with an early 2027 reopening under IHG. A state layoff filing under the WARN Act reached 233 staff, noticed on 26 March 2026 with a final working day of 31 May. It characterises the cut as permanent while stating the facility is not permanently closing and that rehiring is intended once the remodel finishes. A law firm has separately opened an investigation into whether the required sixty days of notice were given. Splash House moved its host-hotel status to the Hilton for August 2026, citing the works. Four sources, one conclusion. None of it surfaces on the homepage, on the wedding pages, or in the answers file.

What the building can hold

The per-room chart is the strongest thing this property publishes, and the website page and the capacity PDF agree line for line. The Crosby Ballroom runs 19,670 square feet across 117 by 168 feet, seating 820 at rounds, 1,500 theatre-style and 2,500 standing, and it splits into West, North and East at 210, 250 and 210 seated. El Dorado adds 240 seated across 5,000 square feet and the Royal another 210. Seventeen divisible rooms exist altogether. Taylor Garden, a hedged lawn with a pergola, is the sole outdoor figure given, at 200 for a ceremony. No square footage attaches to it, and the capacity PDF lists no outdoor space whatsoever.

Money, and the absence of it

No wedding price has ever appeared on this domain. The one first-party dollar figure anywhere on it is valet parking at $18 a day plus tax with unlimited in and out. Everything else in circulation is aggregator material: rental from $2,500 upward, a reception charge split $2,500 peak against $1,500 off-peak, a $5,000 ceremony line, catering from $109 a head, bar from $35 a head, and a 25 percent service charge whose character nobody defines. Cvent returns no information on food and beverage minimums. Building an all-in from those fragments would mean inventing both the missing tax rate and the missing minimum, so no total is offered.

The verdict

Who it suits, once it reopens

Nobody holding a 2026 date. For 2027 and later this holds the largest ballroom capacity in the city by a distance, the Crosby seating 820 at rounds of ten. Few desert properties can give a 200-guest outdoor ceremony a genuine indoor refuge at full count. It suits scale and a 1959 building. It suits nobody who needs a price before making contact, because this resort has never printed one.
